Coach Brinkmeyer returned in the fall of 2022, as the Head Coach after leaving the program following the 2019 season. He started with the Lions in 2000, as an Assistant Coach, before taking over in 2001, and has collected nearly 200 wins, while in charge of the Varsity team.
Other notable coaching achievements:
Brinkmeyer is originally from Illinois, but attended Mount Mercy College, where he played for the Mustangs, and earned a degree in Education. He currently is the High School's Business Department Chair, oversees theROARstore, and is the Director of Digital Media for the Football Team. Corey and his wife, Amy, reside in Cedar Rapids and have two sons, Graham and Mitchell, who both graduated from Linn-Mar.
Coach Berger joined the staff in 2018. Scott graduated from Cedar Rapids LaSalle (now CR Xavier), where he only played club due to soccer not yet an organized sport at LaSalle (Xavier). He then played 3 years at Loras College before completing his education and soccer career at Mount Mercy College. Following graduation, he became an Assistant Coach for the Mustangs as well as an assistant for the Cedar Rapids Jefferson men’s soccer program (1992-1996). Scott and his wife, Christine, have three children, Marissa, Alex, and Amelia, who all have attended (and will graduate from) Linn-Mar. Scott works for the US Postal Service.
Coach Butters joined the staff in 2023. Damien was born and was raised in Cedar Rapids. He grew up playing multiple sports before concentrating on soccer. He played for, and graduated from, CR Prairie where he was part of the Hawks' first State Tournament team. after high school he took classes at University of Northern Iowa (Kinesiology). Currently, he lives in Cedar Rapids, and works for Dave Wright Nissan-Subaru as their Inventory Manager.
Coach Chapa joined the staff in 2021. Martín played soccer for Preparatoria #21 in Nuevo León, México, La selección de China, Nuevo León, and then at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in the early 1990s, where he also obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomic Engineering with emphasis on livestock.
He came to the U.S. to learn English and obtained his Master of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of Northern Iowa.
He has coached locally for FC United, as a Girls Assistant Coach at Solon High School, and various teams on which his sons have been members.
Martín currently teaches Spanish in the Solon Community School District.
He and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Gabriel and Félix. Lisa is a Spanish teacher at Linn-Mar High School. Gabriel is starting his first year at Western Illinois University, where he will also be playing Division I soccer, and Félix is a senior at Linn-Mar High School.
Coach Gueder joined the staff in 2019. Connor is a Cedar Rapids native and grew up in club soccer in the area, graduating from Washington High School. Connor continued his soccer career at Mount Mercy University , before graduating with a degree in Marketing and Sports Management. He works locally for, IFP Motion Solutions in sales.
Coach Taylor joins the coaching staff for the 2023 season. He is a Marion native who grew up playing club soccer, as well as multiple sports, in the area. Jason is a 2004 Linn-Mar graduate, and played on the program's 1st State Tournament team. He and his wife, Amanda, live in the area with their three boys: Jamie, Landon, and Tristan. Jamie graduated from LM in 2022, Landon and Tristan are still in school (high school and elementary, respectively). Jason works for a local vendor finance company in the Cedar Rapids area.
Coach Tovey joined the staff in 2021. He worked with the goalkeepers (all levels) and assisted Coach Geuder with the JV2 team. Reed graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington, and played for the Warriors, in addition to playing club soccer in the area. After high school, Reed took classes at both Iowa and Iowa State, in the field of Interior Design. He works locally in the restaurant industry.
